Product Review– Skip the Caffeine and Energize the Natural Way with Herbs

I recently had the great opportunity to test out some vitamins from BestPriceNutrition.com.  Their website offers a full selection of high-quality bodybuilding supplements, vitamins & minerals, protein supplements, weight loss products, nitric oxide supplements, and recovery supplements from all the top brands at wholesale prices to the general public.

They sent me 2 sample bottles with 5 days worth in each for a total sampling time of 10 days.  The vitamin that they provided was the New Chapter Organics Perfect Energy, a whole-food multi-vitamin for those seeking enhanced energy, performance and endurance. New Chapter is a manufacturer of vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements that focus on providing whole food complexes that your body can actually absorb, not the synthetic chemical isolates found in many other similar products. And because they are food, they are gentler on your stomach than other products.  The food sources used in the supplement are also certified organic.

I started taking the vitamins on a Saturday.  Since I take a number of vitamins daily, I wanted to have a fresh start by only taking these supplements during the trial.  The week that I tried them was very timely, as it was one of my ‘down’ weeks, during which my workload is less than right before a publication deadline, for example.  This should be a good thing, because during these times, I try to get caught up on other things that need to be done. The problem is that I am so tired sometimes from having a ton of things due previously that it is very easy to lose motivation to do things that are not extremely time sensitive.  Sometimes we need a fire under us to get us going, right? 😉 Though I need to take advantage of those calmer times, it is not uncommon for me to slack off instead, since the repercussions of doing so are often minimal.  So, I figured that it was an ideal time to test these energy vitamins out.

When I first started taking the pills, I was under the false impression that they would be like a burst of caffeine– giving you sudden energy.  Upon reviewing the description again, I now realize that they are more aimed at giving you energy for the long haul, in contrast with caffeine that gets you going for a while, and then you have an equally as sudden drop off in energy.

The result that I noticed was that once I got going, I was able to continue working and stay motivated even until later at night. This is important for me personally at times like these, as well as during this time of the year, since I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  Maintaining the energy and endurance that I need to simply get through the day is often difficult, and sometimes I have to turn to caffeine to assist me, especially during late afternoons and early evenings.  I noticed that while I was taking these supplements, I would not experience the mid-day slump that can be all too common.  I also did not feel the need for caffeine for the most part.  The day would pass with me being productive without the interruptions caused by sudden spurts of fatigue or the need to take a nap.

Other things that I liked about the pills:

  • All organic
  • Can be taken on an empty stomach (I did not try to, but due to the food-like make-up, you are supposed to be able to)
  • Sustained energy support
  • Power energy support
  • Energizing herbs that boost energy on a cellular level
  • Promotes recovery
  • Vital rhythms blend that encourages focus and perseverance
  • Full list of necessary daily value of essential vitamins and minerals
  • All-in-one– You can take one vitamin, and get everything that you need, versus having to take numerous different vitamins
  • Natural stress and anxiety relief through herbs– I think this is a viable healthy alternative to prescription medications, as it helps to transform how you deal with stress, and to prevent stress from contributing to fatigue and malaise
  • Pills easy to take and no foul smell
  • Gluten free
  • 100% vegetarian
  • No artificial colors or flavors

This is definitely a vitamin that I would consider taking on a long-term basis, as energy is something that I often lack, and I try to keep caffeine to a minimum.  Other vitamins you may take because you know mentally that they are doing your body good; this vitamin provides you with both short and long-term results that you will feel in body and mind.
