The Top Two Secrets To Savvy Shopping

There are 2 top secrets to saving. Read on to find out what they are, and how to use them...

Even when you are thrifty, shopping can be costly.  That’s where being savvy comes in– you always need to be thinking of new ways to save money.

One way to save is by minimizing your purchases, which is a good strategy when it comes to those “extras” in life that can really sabotage your budget.  But since everybody has to buy things from time to time, whether it be groceries, a new car, or furniture, it pays to know how to shop smart, getting the best prices and taking advantage of all potential discounts.

And that brings me to what I feel is the number one secret to saving: Preparation.  If you are a person that just flies by the seat of your pants when shopping, you may score a good deal once in a while, but on average, you are more likely to pay more than you should be. If you want to be a serious saver, planning ahead is a necessity.  That can involve writing shopping lists, checking sales, doing online research, and establishing a budget, just to name a few.

Considering the options is an important part of saving money.

That being said, in my opinion, the number two secret to saving is: Flexibility.  Your plans may not always go as scheduled.  You may have a coupon for something, but find out that you will actually spend more by using it.  You may have to switch brands to save the most money.  If you see something on sale or clearance, you may want to buy it right then and there while you can, even it is was not on your shopping list.  Being flexible can go a long way to get you the savings you desire.

A balanced combination of preparation and flexibility form a dream team that can give you the saving edge that you have been looking for.
